Melissa A. Register
After spending over twelve years in large law firms and banking, Melissa Register founded Register Law in 2018, focusing on estate and business planning for individuals and families. She combines deep technical skill with an understanding of interpersonal dynamics and their impact on planning.
Melissa began her legal career in 2005 in private law practice in Tampa, Florida, specializing in business law and estate planning, administration and litigation. Her clients ranged from young professionals to closely held business owners to ultra high net worth families.
In 2012, Melissa took a new direction and joined a large national bank as a Senior Wealth Planner. In this role, she led the creation and delivery of multigenerational wealth plans for client families, identifying opportunities to lessen tax burdens and promoting the efficient transfer of wealth. She later became Senior Wealth Strategist for the bank’s ultra high net worth division.
Melissa earned her B.A. from Clemson University (magna cum laude) and her J.D. from the University of Florida (cum laude). While in law school, Melissa received the University of Florida College of Law’s Certificate in Estates and Trusts Practice. She regularly speaks and has written articles on various estate and tax issues impacting high net worth individuals and families.
In 2014, Melissa relocated from Tampa to Cleveland. As a Cincinnati native, Melissa was happy to return to the Midwest (though perhaps not the winters!). Melissa is admitted to practice law in both Ohio and Florida, which is particularly helpful for current and future snowbirds. In her free time, Melissa enjoys traveling, cooking and hiking up the closest mountain.
